Hazards in an office

Most of the following common office hazards are listed in the OHS review form. I've listed a few of them below as examples.

Electrical Power:

  • Plugs, sockets and switches in good order
  • Free of frayed or defective leads
  • Free of double adapters/piggy back plugs
  • All lights adequate and operational
  • Residual Current Devices installed and maintained

Equipment:

  • Office chairs suitable and in good condition
  • Good sitting position, feet on floor, and forearms approximately level
  • Screen below eye level
  • Ladders serviceable, no broken rungs/defects
  • Metal ladders not used for electrical work
  • Current OH & S policies and procedures displayed on notice boards.
  • Safety signs clearly displayed where necessary
  • Kitchen appliances properly maintained.
