Faculty and staff succession planning
- The purposes of faculty and staff succession planning are:
- to ensure that the faculty is systematically refreshed with persons who have requisite skills and experience.
- to minimise the risk to WU operations on the unexpected loss of personnel, including safeguarding organizational knowledge.
- The board will appoint a Succession Committee to oversee succession planning. It may consist of only one person.
- The Succession Committee shall have the following duties:
- Identify the skills and experience needed on the faculty and staff.
- Assess the limitations and gaps of the current faculty and staff.
- Identify the skills and experience and/or qualifications of individuals needed on the faculty and staff.
- Establish plans for persons to take orientation or understudy roles of senior faculty and staff members.
- Ensure the effective orientation, handover, and integration of replacement personnel.
- The Committee might consider existing senior Board or faculty members as emergency replacements.
- Other faculty members may still contribute to the identification and nomination of prospective new faculty and and staff members and positions.
