  1. A department may enact this policy for specific Master programs.
    1. If not enacted, this policy is not applicable.
    2. If enacted, this policy will appy without prejudice to all prospective students for those Master programs.
  2. If a prospective applicant meets all other admission criteria but does not hold a Bachelor degree or its equivalent, he/she may apply for pre-admission status.
  3. The purpose of pre-admission status is to give prospective applicants the opportunity to demonstrate that they are likely to successfully complete the Master program.
  4. To apply for pre-admission status, prospective students must:
    1. make a written application
    2. present a prima facie case for consideration
    3. pay the the non-refundable application fee
    4. submit a portfolio that provides verifiable details of relevant professional experience, evidence of communication skills, evidence of computer literacy, and written works,
    5. authorize WU to obtain independent references, and
    6. be available to be interviewed by a WU admissions officer if requested.
  5. The portfolio and references will be assessed based on the following criteria:
    1. likelihood of successfully completing the Master program without remedial assistance
    2. skills in interpreting written communication
    3. skills in writing
    4. ability to think more widely than local contexts
    5. ability to use sequential logic and to compare multiple viewpoints.
  6. Persons with pre-admission status may participate in the first five units of the Master program and pay normal tuition fees.
  7. They may be admitted as Master students if:
    1. Their application documents can be verified.
    2. They achieve a passing grade for all five units without remedial assistance.
    3. They still meet all other admission requirements.
  8. The onus is on the student to demonstrate that they are capable of satisfactorily completing the course for which they are a prospective student.
  9. No transcript or record of study will be issued unless the prospective student is admitted as a Master student.
  10. Persons with pre-admission status will not be included in the reporting system.
