Your role
First, let's check that your role and responsibilities are appropriate for doing an organizational review.
- Describe your role and responsibilities.
- If you already have a clear job description (JD), will it support your role in organizational review?
- If you don't have clear JD, describe what you do and what you need to achieve.
- Do you think you need to update your JD? Give reasons for your answer.
- What authority do you already have to review the program and suggest improvements? (Note that a proposal and approval process is inlcuded in the review. Even CEOs need approval for strategic changes.)
- What factors will impact on your leadership style and role?
- What are your parameters for exercising influence? Define them clearly and succinctly. For example:
- To whom would you present your proposed improvements? (They could be owners, board members, shareholders, or district supervisors.)
- Are you already "the boss", or do you have to work with a higher level manager?
- What kind of relationship do you have with staff on the floor? (A boss, friend, colleague, all of the above, etc.?)
