Dear Mr. Scrooge,
Thank you for the letter. the dat on it was 11th December, 1923.
Mrs K. Woffledum asked me to read your letter to her and then to answer.
She did not expect your letter and was quite upset, as her life is very hard and she cannot pay you. So she has put all children except the little one into an orfanage, because Saint Nick’s is the best way and might give the children a future. She wants to move in to the room under the stairs of her sister-in-law’s house in the East End.
She will move out as soon as she can, but it might take more than two weeks to sell her things. Please give another seven days to ensure that she sell her things.
Yours truly
B. Leafgreen
