Most modern evangelical views of eschatology belong to one of the following. The term millenial refers to the thousand years mentioned in Revelation 20:1-6.
In the term amillennial, the prefix a- means not.
That is, there is no separate millenium after the return of Christ. One thousand years
simply means a very long time
and refers to the current era.

In the term premillennial the prefix pre- means before.
That is, Christ returns and then there is a separate millenium.
